Harper Voyager Spotlight Panel : Saturday 10:30am – 11:30am

DESCRIPTION:

With the proliferation of science fiction/fantasy in this year’s movie and television landscape, it’s a vibrant, transformational time in the SF/F publishing market: and Harper Voyager, HarperCollins’ speculative fiction imprint, has never before boasted such a diverse array of content.  Assistant Editor Kelly O’Connor and Associate Publicist Caroline Perny will discuss how the marketplace is rebounding from an overabundance of vampires and werewolves: readers are increasingly hungry for tales more rooted in scientific reality: on the ascendant are science thrillers (Zer0es by Chuck Wendig, Departure by A.G. Riddle, Positive by David Wellington); magical espionage and supernatural noir (Killing Pretty by Richard Kadrey, Stonehill Downs by Sarah Remy, The Day Before by Liana Brooks); space opera and military adventure (Shadow of Empire by Jay Allan, Guerilla by Mel Odom, The Cold Between by Elizabeth Bonesteel) . Don’t discount pop culture’s ongoing obsession with marvel-ous superhero mythology and tales of gods on earth (Superheroes Anonymous by Lexie Dunne, Devil in the Wires by Tim Lees).  Readers continue to be fascinated with books that go bump in the night: Horror remains a strong category, with a wide range of fiction incorporating horrorific elements (Gideon by Alex Gordon, The Devil’s Bag Man by Adam Mansbach, Beyond Redemption by Michael K. Fletcher).  And blending the magic of fantasy with the science of SF are some cog-studded Steampunk powerhouses (The Clockwork Crown by Beth Cato; On Her Majesty’s Behalf by Joseph Nassise, Diabolical Miss Hyde by Viola Carr).  Attendees will get a sneak peak at upcoming Harper Voyager titles, prizes, books—and the chance to meet some of our out-of-this-world authors!

Featuring Alex Gordon, Beth Cato, Chuck Wendig, Joseph Nassise, Mel Odom, Richard Kadrey, and Viola Carr
